Tea Fire Final Words

The Sheriff announced today the cause of the Tea Fire. 10 young adults had held a bonfire at the point of origin. They thought that they had extinguished the fire, but it smoldered for at least 12 hours until winds whipped it up. There was no malicious intent. Read the story here.

It was also announced that 100% containment was achieved today.

Final statistics:
  • Acres burned: 1,940
  • Homes burned: 210 destroyed, 9 damaged
  • Injuries: 22 smoke inhalation, 3 burn victims
  • Deaths: 1 (unconfirmed if directly due to the fire)
  • Estimated firefighting cost: $5.7 million to date
I've come up with an idea to help out the victims. The kids are going to help me. More to come as I finalize my idea.
