Poor Puppy

Poor Kibble pup. I had to take her to the vet yesterday.

She was resting quietly when suddenly she acted really scared, jumped in my lap, shaking and started having nystagmus. It looked like she was having a seizure! I called the vet right away and they told me to bring her right in.

When I got her leash out to go for a ride!, she was all better, but I took her anyway. I described her dingbat ways, like barking at Kevin coming home a couple weeks ago and her fear of lights (She runs and hides when the flashlight comes out, and she pee'd her trousers when we lit our Jack o'Lanterns and turned out the lights last October).

What does the doctor do first thing, but get her light to examine Kibble's eyes! After I just described her fear! Kibble freaked out and wouldn't let the vet examine her.

It could be neurological, but the vet doubts that it was a seizure. She thinks that it was a severe fear reaction to something Kibble saw or heard. The only stimulus that I noticed was that Kevin blew on some food to cool it down, right before Kibble freaked.

She gave me some handouts on dog fears and phobias and de-conditioning/behavior mod. We'll see if we can de-sensitize her to lights. Apparently submissive dogs are more susceptible to having fear reactions, and it tends to get worse as they age.

I tried to take her picture, but she is afraid of the camera--it flashes sometimes!

Frozen Grand Central

When I go to concerts, plays, dances or parades, I often get a visceral emotional reaction at the start of the event. I often start to cry. The emotion comes from quite deep. I think it comes from the realization of the amazing abilities of human beings to create art, as well as the connection that we share when performers and audience are together creating an event.

When I saw this video from Improv Everywhere, it touched me in a similar way.

What's with YouTube?

I'm very frustrated that YouTube seems to be down more than it is working. Grrrr. Is it really the Pakistanis? And if so, what is our government going to do about it? I cannot blog without YouTube. I cannot laugh without YouTube. I cannot live without YouTube.

I'm sincerely bummed. I hope you all have been able to access my videos here. If at first they don't appear, try, try again.

Mikey is sick today. He has chills, fever, and aches. I've brought him orange juice, tea, ibuprofen, and Airborne. And if Lemsip were available, I'd bring him that, too.

He still feels like $h*t. Poor little bunny.

Luckily, he is nothing at all like most men. ;)

I think it is amazing that the military wanted to hit a 4-foot fuel tank on a bus-sized satellite traveling 17,000 miles per hour 113 nautical miles above the earth from a ship on choppy waters during a 3-minute window.

At least three detained after fight

Police in Santa Barbara detained at least three people following a gang fight on Laguna and Valerio streets Tuesday.

The incident was reported about noon. Witnesses said they saw a bat, screwdriver and what looked like a plaster sculpture used as weapons. The car of one group thought to be involved had the back window broken out during the melee.

Police were trying to locate the car Tuesday afternoon.

Officers responded to the area, and took several people into custody at Santa Barbara and Valerio Streets. Valerio Street was closed to traffic.

(Ofc. Little reported that the plaster sculpture was a garden gnome)
