Fourth of July crime.

It was a quiet Law Enforcement night on Independence Day. They had the whole force out on the streets and on the beach. Last year there was a gang stabbing. This year it was quiet, except for one incident. Guess who got to deal with it? Guess who missed seeing the fireworks?

From the Santa Barbara Daily Sound.

July 4, 8:52 p.m. — Police received reports of an assault and responded to the Leadbetter Beach parking lot, where they found a victim with a serious head wound. Witnesses pointed out a man in a tuxedo walking across the street with a girl.

After being detained, the 32-year-old suspect was uncooperative and officers had to pull his hand from his pocket. The man’s girlfriend admitted seeing him punch the victim and said he claimed that the victim had been making insulting comments about her.

She told officers nothing had appeared wrong moments earlier, and other witnesses said it appeared the victim had been attacked without provocation.

Police noted the suspect has a 14-page criminal history, including assault and resisting arrest, and is an alleged gang member from Porterville, Calif. The 32-year-old refused to speak with police, who booked him on $30,000 bail for assault with a deadly weapon.

We hold these truths to be self-evident

HAPPY
INDEPENDENCE DAY!

I love the Fourth of July! It is a good time to reflect on the good parts of our country. We are so lucky to live here, in this age, despite the screwed-up morals of our current leadership.

Our founding fathers were so wise! They left us with wonderful maps to follow for the stewardship of the country (except the screwy language of the 2nd Amendment--did they all drop acid right before writing that one?).

In case you haven't read them in a while, here they are.

The Declaration of Independence

The Constitution of the United States of America

Best wishes for a safe, happy Independence Day!
