Things are changing fast, but I stress: We are all OK! The fire is still far away, but it headed west (in our direction). Mandatory evacuation areas have been extended to San Antonio Creek Road, which is about the boundary where the Painted Cave Fire burned in 1990.
We can see the orange glow from our house behind the house across the street and out on the Calle Real we can see the flames out there. It is still miles away, so do not worry.
We have 2303 personnel helping to fight this fire. There are 12 fixed-wing aircraft and 10 helios fighting. Three of the helios have night-vision cabability, so they continue working through the night. There are something like 246 engines. 13 dozers.
Mike is working his usual patrol. He said it is crazy out there, huge flames.
Recent numbers from a couple hours ago:
2739 acres burned.....undoubtedly outdated.
3500 (outdated) residential structures threatened, 1000 commercial properties threatened.
75 homes confirmed burned.
I think it will be a long night listening to the radio. Even though we are not in danger, it is still stressful.
Time for that margarita.
