He has been having wonderful opportunities for learning and travel. Last month he went on a field trip to Death Valley. Here are some of his favorite pictures.
A gecko came to visit one night:
The students learning about a pyrolitic ash flow tuff. The dark, middle part of the tuff became obsidian with cooling and pressure.
His campsite. Comfy, huh?
This is at the "Racetrack Playa" in Death Valley. The rocks slowly slide across the landscape. Really cool!
Pupfish:
The camp. Kev's site is in the foreground.
Man and Poppies.
And guess what? On Friday he is leaving for the Honors Field Trip to the Colorado Plateau! His professors were impressed with his work in Death Valley and asked him to go! He will be gone for two weeks (his entire summer break, since he is taking summer classes). And so cool: he gets to present a paper on Zion when they arrive. Neat-o!
What a great opportunity! We'll share when he returns!
